Learn More: Downtown Discoveries Scavenger Hunt
This summer, the Diamond City Partnership (DCP) will host a “Downtown Discoveries Summer Passport Program,” that will send children and their families on a scavenger hunt throughout Downtown Wilkes-Barre. This program will allow families to participate in kid-friendly activities that promote outdoor activity, literacy and reading, anti-bullying, kindness, and help reacquaint the community with some of Downtown’s most important assets, businesses, and landmarks. Through this free program, participants will be encouraged to visit various locations in our city to pick up a passport which will include activities for them to complete throughout Downtown Wilkes-Barre for the months of June and July.
Children can mark their passports upon completing the activities and visit participating businesses for small prizes. Once they have completed all of the passport destinations, children can stop by the Osterhout Library to receive a goodie bag. The program will culminate with our Downtown Discoveries Adventure event at Midtown Village on Saturday, July 24th. We want to make the Downtown passport accessible to as many children in our region as possible. In order to distribute the passport, DCP is partnering with the YMCA, the Osterhout Library, Building Blocks Learning Center, and grade schools.
