Another ethnic eatery is coming to “restaurant row” in downtown Wilkes-Barre.

Istanbul Grill is set to open at 40 S. Main St. and will replace Oz’s Pizza.

The restaurant, which will feature Turkish and Mediterranean food, is slated to open in the next few weeks, an employee said.

Like in several other downtown eateries, customers will be able to bring their own alcohol to dinner, he said.

Istanbul Grill has a website online that is still being constructed, but will include the menu. The address is http://www.istanbulgrillpa.com.

The website invites guests to “experience the delicious flavors of Mediterranean cuisine” that is “locally sourced” and “crafted with love.”

The news follows the recent announcement that Shawermajy Halal Gyros will soon open at 67 N. Main St., featuring gyros, cheese pies, meat pies and traditional Middle Eastern food like falafel and hummus.

The new ethnic restaurants add to an array of cuisines from around the world now being offered in downtown Wilkes-Barre, which has been touted as “restaurant row.”

Other ethnic restaurants in downtown Wilkes-Barre include Letts Eat — Flavors of India, French restaurant Le Manhattan Bistro, Thai Thai, Japanese restaurant Katana, Mexican restaurant El Zocalo, Italian restaurant Cafe Toscana and Caribbean restaurants, Hartman Jerk Center and Caribbean Paradise.
