Painting a ‘Window Wonderland’ in W-B

i Dec 4th 2018

By Denisse Allabaugh, Wilkes-Barre Citizens Voice

Artist Wayne Branham painted the windows in front of The Citizens’ Voice building on North Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre on Monday for the holidays.

He also painted windows at Frederick Dental Group and Butler Eye Care on South Main Street and Luzerne County Convention and Visitors Bureau on Public Square.

The festive paintings are all part of the Downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association’s annual “Window Wonderland” holiday project that allows artists to display their talents on windows for people to enjoy during the festive time of year.

John Maday, president of the Downtown Wilkes-Barre Association, said the association coordinates the “Window Wonderland” project to celebrate the holiday season and draw attention to businesses in downtown Wilkes-Barre. The association donates all the supplies, he said.

“We offer businesses an opportunity to have their windows painted with a holiday theme by volunteer artists. Artists collaborate with owners to determine a theme for their business,” Maday said. “We have been fortunate that many of the volunteer artists have continued to return from the beginning of this project.”
